birth story


OK. Since about Wednesday (May 14th) or so I had been peeing literally every 5 minutes plus having watery discharge but just thought it was me um leaking myself haha. Early Sunday (May 18th) DH and I went to bed around 2:30AM and I woke up around.. 4AM? Felt bit of back pain and a tiny bit of belly tightness. Tried to go back to sleep but HAD to get up because of how umcomfortable I felt. Couldn't sit still and couldn't lay so I just paced the floor and didn't want to wake Brad up so I paced some more until about 7:15AM then woke him up and said that I think something is going on because I couldn't get comfortable. I called the OB nurse at the hospital and said she couldn't really tell me yes or no on what to do but If it were her, she would come get checked just incase. Remember I didn't know I was in labor!!!!!!!!!!! Luckily the night before I had finished washing Katie's clothes. DH called his Mom and asked her to drive us since DH knew he would be driving like a maniac because of worry haha. DH helped me get my hospital bag and Katie's bag together and his Mom arrived then we were out the door. Got to the emergency room and had to fill out paperwork and the whole time my belly tightness was really tight and I had major backpain so I was on the edge of the chair, holding onto the side tryin to brace the umcomfortableness. Waited for the OB nurses to come wheel me back then me and DH finally got to a labor room (they were EXTREMELY busy that day) and my OB Doc was about to do a c-section! In the room, DH helped me with my gown and I got on the bed and waited. My OB was done with the c-section and came to check about my "leaking" and so she swabbed me and It was a dark color and she said "Oh, that's not good, yeah, your leaking amniotic fluid" And she decided to go ahead and check my cervix… and she said "You are complete" I said "10 centimeters?!?" and she said "Yep, your gonna have a baby today, just in a little bit here" I was in SHOCK! I'M COMPLETE?!
My belly tightness and backpain only got worse and they got my IV in, put in a cathedar to get a urine sample and after a while they started pitocin. DH (Brad) was watching my contractions on the monitor hehe and my labor pain was backpain so when a contraction would hit my belly would get sooo tight and the backpain felt like someone was ripping my back off or somethin. OB came back eventually and broke my water hehe DH's Mom (MIL) was there in the delivery room and of course Brad. A bit later OB said for me to give a test push and after that, she said baby was already +1 and I think +3 is when the baby is almost out or maybe out? Not sure. My OB had to go do something so the nurses were watching me as more contractions came. They weren't really painful, just uncomfortable. They were definetly getting closer and stronger and my OB came back and got me all into position. As she moved down further into the birth canal one of the biggest pains for me was when her moving down was hitting EVERY nerve in my leg! Felt like someone was rakeing every nerve in my legs. And started to feel LOTS OF PRESSURE and It was hard when I would feel a contraction then try to relax after a contraction, It was sooo hard for me to try to relax. After about 45-1 hour out she came!! Brad got to cut her BIG FAT cord lol and after they suctioned her mouth she cried! Then I had this hysterical almost-cry, over joy noise going on after she was born hehe Our baby Doc brought her over for me to see just for a sec and I kissed her little forehead then they took her to the nursery to see how she was doing. They told us before she was born that more than likely she was gonna have to be shipped to the bigger hospital about 1 1/2 hour away because of (more than likely) breathing problems. BUT! She did just superb! She didn't even need oxygen or anything. My OB showed us the placenta haha and showed us where in it baby was. I just got to relax in my bed while DH, his Mom and a few other family members were calling people and etc. And OMG the worst is when they press on the uterus after birth.. OUCH. They finally brought me lunch - I was STARVING since I hadn't had anything to eat since about 11PM the previous night and only had water early that morning so my lips were BONE dry. I ate, they took my IV out and the nurse helped me with bathroom stuff and my bleeding was not bad AT ALL - I told her I'd walk to my room and she kept saying to me, "Are you sure you had a baby??" Oh and I didn't need stitches and didn't tear.. just a tiny scratch!

Thursday June 19th 08 1 month check up @ 1mon1d, weight: 7lbs 12oz
Monday July 21st 08 2 month check up @ 2mon3d, weight: 10lbs 4oz + 2 shots (that Friday received 3rd shot)
