I have actually felt pretty good today! AHHH, so thankful. I got up hella early at 5:40AM, so I could get up, fix this-that, get Katie up, feed her, and then I went over to my neighbor’s house at 7AM to start to attempt to catch momma cat and her 6 kitties that live on her porch. My neighbor lured in momma cat with some food, she GRABBED HER real quick, but lost her grip, momma cat clawed her real good and then got away. My neighbor got highly distraught about that because she felt like this was her once chance and she didn’t make that happen. I tried to reassure her that we would do the best we could do. After much chasing, clawing, biting, and going back and forth — we managed to get 5/6 kittens into a carrier. Yea, OUCH. One of the kitties TORE UP places on my hands. We could not find the last kitten and there was no way we could get momma cat now. We tried to decide whether to just give up, or go ahead and take the 5/6 kittens to the animal place, where she had hoped to bring them all to today, so they could be fixed. We went ahead and loaded the kittens up, put Katie in the car, and headed off. Again, my neighbor was upset because we didn’t get everyone and she had to drive quite a ways to get to the animal place. It wasn’t like it was just down the road. Anyway, we get there and wait wait wait. The people there said that the kittens needed to be ATLEAST 2-3 pounds before they would do the surgery. They weighed them….. nope. They were all around 1.7-1.9. SO CLOSE. My neighbor flipped out, but the person at the front desk told her that there was no way they could do it because it is required they are a certain weight or else they would DIE in surgery. After lots and lots of bawling, freaking out, phone calls, etc etc… my neighbor took home 2 traps to catch momma cat and the other kitten. They said for her to take the kittens home and let someone keep them for a few weeks, until they are the required weight. Neighbor flips out again and says there is NO ONE to do that… she can’t because she has cats of her own and most of her friends have their own cats too and cannot take on wild kittens. The front desk guy made every phone call he could think of and tossed out this and that idea. It was either find someone to watch over them until they were big enough, or just release them outside to be with their momma cat and have to RE-trap them AGAIN in a few weeks. That would be more money for renting more traps… well, we drove back home and they told her to just keep the kittens in the carrier for a bit because they were trying to find someone to take them in until they weighed enough. We drove back in silence mostly. Got back and I had to get home to feed Katie, etc etc. I saw my neighbor leave not long after we got back. Later found out that the front desk guy called and told her to bring the kittens back, that he was going to take them in his own care until they weighed enough and then he had connections with someone to try to find them homes afterwards!!!!!! How wonderful!!!!! Same with when she catches momma cat and baby, they will get fixed and set up to attempt to find homes. My neighbor will not have to deal with the momma cat having litter after litter anymore! I love that my neighbor put soooooo much care, effort, and love into helping those cats. She’s been taking care of momma cat since SHE was a kitten… feeding her on her porch, so she loves that cat SOOOOO much. It was an interesting day!

Came back, gave Katie a bath, got her ready for bed, then Brad rocked and put her down for the night. Overall, a very good day. I’m just thrilled that I felt a good bit better! Here’s hoping I just keep getting better from here on out. Gonna chill and get ready for some sleeeeeep!
