Low Cortisol

HAPPY THURSDAAAAAY!!! Bum bum bum… time for my update. We went to the pet store this last Saturday, the mall- where I got my eyebrows done and my trimmed, then stopped by Wal-Mart to get hair dye! I tried going light blonde and it just was a lighter brown, lol. That’s fine, as long as I covered up the horribly dark roots of my hair that have been showing. Sunday was awesome, as always. I sent my Naturopath an email Sunday, asking about my saliva testing results and she sent me one back saying that she wanted to see me in person and that she had an appointment available Monday… so after calling my neighbor Sunday evening – I emailed her back and said I would come in Monday. I WAS EXCITED!!!!!!! I’ve waited about 2 months for the results. I got everything ready and headed out with my neighbor to my appointment! Long story short: the appointment went awesome! Test results show I have low morning, noon, and almost low afternoon cortisol – plus, high testosterone. She gave me something to boost my adrenals (thus raise cortisol to healthy levels) and a supplement to help balance testosterone and estrogen levels, plus a good B vitamin supplement to help with energy and getting those in. She wants to see me in 3 weeks! She recommended I cut out my evening adrenal supplements I had been taking and the thyroid supporting supplement I usually take in the morning. So, this week I tried cutting those out and no…. I really honestly need them. I had bad morning fatigue AGAIN when I didn’t take the thyroid supporter and my Naturopath’s MD told me to not stop the supporter when I started my thyroid meds back in… May?, but my Naturopath thought I could probably stop them now. Ummm, nope lol. I feel better today because I took the evening adrenal supplements last night and the thyroid supporter this morning. WOOT. I felt AMAZING Monday evening because I took the new adrenal booster. I can’t wait to see how I will feel in a month or so with the new additions. My body already feels a little slimmer!!!! YES. I know the key is to rebalance my hormones and boost those adrenals.

Since we have been putting Katie to bed earlier on school nights she has done wonderfully! I hope that continues. Everything else has been going great – still moving along with college stuff. It’s been a good week and will be an excellent weekend! I’m gonna start a simple exercise routine again. I just at least want to get 30 minutes of exercise that I can tolerate, since I need at least 30 minutes to get those endorphins going, but I know it has to be a bit more than just walking. I’m gonna hop on my exercise bike in a bit and see what happens. Slow and steady, but the exercise will benefit me for suuuuure.

Alright… that’s all I got!

Rainy Saturday

It’s been raining, raining… but we’ve had the patio door open because it feels nice! WOOT. OOPs- I’m a bit late on my usual weekly update. Honestly, I don’t have much to spill on this time. Still waiting to hear back from my Naturopath about my saliva test results. So, the level cap for Lord of the Rings Online right now is 85 and I AM 83!!!!!! This makes me SUPER HAPPIES because I started playing the game when it came out in 2007 and I’m still playing that same char that I started with! This will be my first 85 char and I am really, really enjoying the game – because I went ahead and bought quest packs for 2 diff areas so it’s been a blast. The game is pretty and I love Lord of the Rings!

Katie didn’t get enough sleep one night this last week and had a DISASTER day at school. Ugh… so byebye to the afternoon nap and HELLO earlier bedtime! I did that Wednesday and Thursday so she was in bed a little after 7pm and did great at school Thursday and Friday. We’re getting it all figured out slowly but surely.

I’m working hard on cutting down the sugar and carb content in my daily food intake. I’m also re-introducing animal products, with chicken and eggs. SO FAR my gut has been nice about it… let’s hope it does alright. I’ve had a sinus-type headache yesterday and today, BUT I also felt a little “better” overall yesterday and today I feel good!!!! well- besides the headache, but that has let up. I hope I continue to feel this way. We’re leaving in a bit after I eat dinner to pick up a few things at the pet store then head to the mall so I can get my eyebrows waxed, but I’m also thinking about getting my hair cut/trimmed, since it’s getting longer than I usually like. I’d LOVE to get it dyed blonde again, but that will have to wait a bit.

Ummm, college is going great! This week we discussed various exercises and the benefits. AWESOME! =) I’m very thankful for everything Heavenly Father has given me and I pray that I will continue to feel betterrrrrrr each day. Hope everyone has an awesome rest-of-the weekend and good vibes for the upcoming week! TOMORROW NIGHT IS THE FINALE FOR DEXTER, AAAAAAAAH. PS- Bones premiere was awesome and I’m STOKKKKED for new PARENTHOOD, REVOLUTION, and THE CRAZY ONES (SMG SQUEEEEEE) this week!! WOOHOOO. <3

Better-ness

Katie did end up going to school last Friday and she did well that day, thank goodness. I’m soooooo proud of her because she’s done wonderfully at school so far this week. Recap + highlights from last time:

– Sent off my saliva testing last Friday evening
– Last Saturday I went around trying to get canned goods for our church food drive & I got a lot!
– Let Mom have her early b-day presents – bath beads and a book she’s wanted.
– Church went great last Sunday with teaching the kids.
– Tuesday was PICTURE DAY at school for Katie
– Also my Mom’s birthday!!! =)
– Saliva testing made it to the lab Wednesday
– Yesterday, I watched a friend’s 5 yr old after school, who rides the bus with Katie and I will be watching her after school from now on until 5ish to help my friend, since she has no one else while she works
– NEW BONES STARTS MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!

I’m just waiting waiting to hear back from my Naturopath about my saliva testing results then go from there. Also, been reading more about FAS (fetal alcohol syndrome, which I was diagnosed with as a baby) and this may sound totally OBVIOUS, but I had no idea that-that meant I was born with some sort of brain damage. It varies from person to person in symptoms and such, but I totally understand my behaviors since childhood a lot better now. I understand my struggles in a different way because I know I have weaknesses, due to the FAS. And that’s okay. I’m just happy to have an answer to those “why can’t I be like others?” questions I’ve always had.

It will only make me stronger to understand it better. Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

Rejoice!

Listening to Casting Crowns this morning and just so thankful for my Heavenly Father!!!

Well, last week we still had issues with Katie’s behavior/potty at school & I think it’s been due to her off/on sickness. Of course she didn’t have school on Monday, so sent her to school Tuesday and it was a DISASTER. She didn’t feel well at school, obviously, because she came home with a fever and was whiney/cranky. We decided to take her to the Doc yesterday, so Brad took us and he went into work late. Basically, she doesn’t have strep (she’s had off/on sore throat) but I guess her body has just been working through whatever she’s been getting again and again. The Doc suggested Motrin for aches & sore throat, so we picked some up. She had a 101 fever last night, so I gave her Motrin and decided I’d see how she felt this morning. I got her up and she didn’t have a fever, but her eyes were “tired”-ish and when she did her morning prayer she cried & then I asked her what was wrong – sick? tired? When I asked about being tired, she said – “Yea, I need to take a nap in the afternooon” and then started to cry/whine and I thought oooooooh no, If she was already whiney when she first got up then she surely would probably cause trouble at school, so gave her a little Motrin and put her back to bed this morning. We’ll see how shes doing tomorrow.

TODAY IS THE DAY OF MY SALIVA TESTING, which I’m doing the “noon” collection right now. Can’t wait to ship it off cause it’s been a long wait to do this – AGAIN. After the results come back and I see what needs to be done to go further then I’m prob gonna change up my daily food intake. We’ll see.

I love my new current college course!!! Personal Fitness and Wellness for Optimal Living! So awesome because I’m having fun with the discussions about healthy living, as I always do.

Oh, and welcome September! I’m really excited for the fall shows to start up, mainly PARENTHOOD! Yipppeee!!! Otherwise, just trying to make the best of each day that I have been given <3 "Living He loved me, dieing He saved me, buried He carried my sins far away... rising He justified freedom forever, one day He's coming, oh glorious day!"
